11 Solomon and the Temple

The eleventh lesson of the Metanarrative of Redemption considers the reign of Solomon as prophetically typological of the consummated reign of the Messiah. The Temple is also considered as both an echo of Eden and a foreshadowing of the future New Jerusalem, which together point to the entire earth being filled with the glory of God's manifest presence. Although both Solomon and the Temple are located within the context of the Old Testament paradigm, they nevertheless constitute an important link in the unfolding of God's mission of redemption, pointing to the fulness of the age to come when Christ returns to earth.

10 Davidic Covenant

The tenth lesson of the Metanarrative of Redemption focuses David as the idealized king of Israel, who, being associated with the presence and reign of God, serves as a prophetic type of a future Messianic king descended from David's line. Consideration is also given to the inception of the monarchy in Israel's history.

08 The Law

The eighth lesson of the Metanarrative of Redemption focuses the role and nature of the Law in the overall plan of redemption. The relationship of the the Law to salvation is considered, including seven implicit foundational truths which would become critical to attaching meaning to the crucifixion of Jesus. Also briefly addressed is the misunderstanding that commonly arises when New Testament texts are read that apparently make pejorative comments about the Law.

07 The Land

The seventh lesson of the Metanarrative of Redemption focuses on the thematic significance of land. Attention is given to the role of land in the creation mandate, as well as to the parallels between the Promised Land and the Garden of Eden. The Promised Land is viewed as a new paradise with similar strategic missional value as the original intersection of heaven and earth.
